OKCupid.com

A dating site based on quizzes to help users find other users that match their interests. It can be a little too cheesy with sections like “Your Stalkers” which is just users who have viewed your profile, but the rest of the site can get you past this.

most young, slightly geeky (or very geeky) singles. The quizes are fun and the members seem pretty harmless. My best friend met her boyfriend of 4 years there, and my housemates, who’ve been together two years now, also met there.

My fiance and I met on OKC about 3 years ago. We are rather geeky, in keeping with the last reviewer. I don’t know how well their rating system works though given that Dan was but a 70% match for me and many of the 80′s and even 90′s that I met seemed not to fit well at all. But I suppose it depends on how truthfully one answers the questions. There was a rather high concentration of people seeking only to hook up, as well.

This is an objective score not based on my preferences. This site well organized but is definitely geared for the young, the geeky, and possibly the perverted. It is most absolutely a quiz/survey based site. If into quizzes, you will be in your glory!! I felt dogged at every turn by the survey’s and quizzes. If you don’t fill them out it could rate as a negative for those who do. I got about 85% through “one” quiz which had over 200 questions. It was in response to a preliminary expectation from someone I was interested in. It asked a lot of extremely personal questions. Many of the questions related to sexual preferences, etc. There were also value related questions regarding law breaking. In particular on segment that asked under what situations you would consider killing someone and the degrees of likelihood of doing it. You get the picture!

Most of the men that contact me are foreigners that lie about where they live and about being Americans. Their English is horrible and a dead give away that they aren’t what they say they are. The other men just want hook ups or cybersex.

Let me start by admitting that I’ve only had my OKC profile up for about a week and a half, so I may need to give it some more time. But so far, I’m not impressed.

First of all, the “stalker” function is irritating: anyone who happens to view your profile is listed as one of your “stalkers” — same rule applies to you if you check out someone else’s profile. I don’t know if I want everyone whose profile I view to know I was there. What if I check them out and am not interested – now they’ve seen my picture and profile name! Also, I can see who’s been looking at my profile…which sounds like an advantage at first, but is actually more of a burden: when a hot guy looks at my profile and then DOESN’T contact me, I’m left to obsess over why he didn’t.

Not only that, but most of the guys who seem interesting and attractive either have the “seeing someone” status or haven’t logged in since 2006. The only e-mails I’ve received have been from guys with horrible grammar who are 13+ years older than me. While the site appears to be geared toward the young and ‘net savvy, it seems to be peopled with horny men who are the same age as my uncle. I’m sure there are some women out there who are looking for a “Daddy” figure, but I’m not one of them. Ew.

I agree with some of the other reviewers that the the site is largely focused on the questions and quizzes — the quizzes can be amusing, and are the only part of the site I’ve actually found entertaining so far. At least you can skip the questions if you choose, or quit the test if you start it and decide you don’t want to finish.

In summary, I’ve been kind of disappointed. Like some of the other posters here, I have friends who have found meaningful long-term relationships on OKCupid…but I also have friends who refer to it as “OKStupid” and found it to be a waste of time. I’m beginning to see what they mean.

It’s true, the guys are only looking to hook-up,find some sugar or are just plain weird. The site has quizzes that can be ok if you’re bored and want to play. Site also sends you what they call “quiver matches”,people that should dwfinately give you a jolt according to your quizzes. Ok. Was waiting. Got tired. Left.
